Golden Globes. What I liked and what I didn´t

Hi there! Here is a selection of the gowns that I liked and didn´t like from the Golden Globes Awards. I have to say that I didn´t see anything that really shocked me (in the good way). I was expecting to find an astonishing dress but it didn´t happen. I saw a few very cool pieces, but also a few especially ugly in my opinion. There´s something that caught my attention however and that was the number of women wearing dresses with this accentuated "V" neck...I got a little worn out with this!! It´s like everybody is wearing the same thing!

Buenos días! Aquí os muestro una selección de los vestidos que me han gustado y que no me han gustado del evento de los Globos de Oro. He de decir que no vi nada que me dejara alucinada, que me entusiasmara. Esperaba ver algún vestido espectacular, pero no. Vi algunas piezas muy bonitas y otras bastante feas. Hay algo que me llamó mucho la atención sin embargo. La cantidad de mujeres con vestidos de escote en "V" acentuado. Acabé un poco hartita del modelito! Es como que todo el mundo lleva lo mismo!

Alexander McQueen gown

This is one of my favorite gowns from the night. It´s not that I find it spectacular but I think it´s very elegant. It´s kind of simple but with very special touches. I tend to avoid black dresses but this combination of black and gold makes the piece very very nice. The long sleeves give it a special elegant touch. Sometimes it´s just better to wear something simple that looks good on you than trying weird pieces with the aim of catching attention.

Uno de mis vestidos preferidos de la noche. No es que sea nada espectacular, pero creo que es muy elegante. Es básico pero con detalles muy especiales. El caso es que yo tiendo a evitar trajes negros, porque los veo muy típicos y como que les falta originalidad, quizás por lo usados que están, pero esta combinación de negro y dorado me encanta. Las mangas largas me parece que le dan un toque de elegancia total. A veces es mejor ponerse algo medio básico pero elegante en vez de buscar modelitos llamativos que acaben siendo un chasco.

Tom Ford gown

This is good example of how a very plain gown can look amazingly elegant. Her hair is a great complement to the outfit. Nice look!

Este es un buen ejemplo para mi de cómo un vestido muy básico puede resultar increíblemente elegante. Su pelo es además un complemento perfecto para el look. Me encanta! 

Valentino gown

Very nice dress. I´m not crazy about the colors (so trendy this season) but overall I find the piece nice and elegant.

Muy bonito. No me vuelven loca los colores, aunque sé que están súper de moda, pero en conjunto me parece un vestido precioso y elegante.

Dior Haute Couture gown

I find this gown cool, especially because of the lower part. The bright gold belt works as a very chic accessory. The upper part of the dress has something that I´m not sure about. The layering of the fabric over the chest reminds me of the 90´s J.P. Gaultier style. But overall I like the piece. The color is amazing and that is a plus.

Este vestido también me gusta, especialmente la parte baja. El cinturón le da un toque súper chic. La parte de arriba es medio rígida. Cuando lo vi de cerca en la TV me pareció medio raro, pero en conjunto el vestido queda bien, me gusta. El color es precioso y esto también suma.

Badgley Mischka gown

One of my favorite pieces of the night. Again black and gold, simple and elegant. I find this gown spectacularly attractive. Superb look! 

Este es otro de mis vestidos preferidos de la noche que, casualmente en esta ocasión, son casi todos negros. Pero, de nuevo, negro y dorado en perfecta combinación. El resultado es un vestido espectacularmente atractivo.

Zuhair Murad gown

To me, she´s always one of the "winners" in style in these kinds of events. I would love to meet her stylist. Amazing job. This time I didn´t find the dress as nice and cool as other times but it´s still a cool piece, and she knows how to wear it.

Para mi, siempre una de las "ganadoras" en estilo en este tipo de eventos. Me encantaría conocer a su estilista porque es una "crack", hace un súper buen trabajo!. He de decir sin embargo que esta vez no me ha parecido uno de los mejores modelitos, pero es un vestido bonito, no cabe duda. Además, ella sabe cómo sacarle partido!

Oscar de la Renta

I like this gown, especially because of the color, perfectly chosen for a nice skin like hers. It looks great on her.

Este me gusta, especialmente por el color, que queda estupendo con el color de su piel. Le queda genial!

Jenny Packham

I like this one. I think it´s a very cool piece for pregnant situations.

Me gusta este modelo para embarazadas. No es siempre fácil encontrar una pieza bonita y elegante, pero esta me lo parece.

Zac Posen gown

Amazing gown. The cut is spectacular and, although this is not one of my favorite colors, I think that it is a very very cool piece. Perfect for her.

Precioso! El corte es espectacular, porque, como el de Alexander McQueen, es sobrio (este tiene algo más de floritura) pero súper elegante. El toque de la cola lo hace muy especial. El color no es uno de mis favoritos, pero tengo que reconocer que incluso siendo de este color, me encanta! 

Badgley Mischka gown 

Elegant and unpretentious.

Jenny Packham gown

Simple cut, classic elegance. I love the color.

Corte limpio, elegancia clásica. Me encanta el color.

Perfect choice for a middle aged woman like her.

Elección perfecta para una mujer de mediana edad como ella.

Naeem Khan gown

This is one of the only pieces that I find very unique. I love the color and the bright, rigid details. Very cool!

Este es casi el único vestido que yo diría que es diferente, con algo muy chic. El color me encanta, pero sobre todo es el detalle de las partes rígidas del vestido. Me fascina! 

Chanel gown

I cannot imagine why somebody would decide to wear something like this. The cut, the color....there´s nothing good about this choice for me.

No soy capaz de imaginar porque alguien decidiría ponerse algo como esto. La forma, el color...no hay nada que me guste!

Calvin Klein gown

Don´t like. It´s as if half of the dress were missing. I don´t know but I look at it and simply don't like it.

No me gusta. Es como si faltara la mitad del vestido. No sé pero lo miro y simplemente no me gusta.

Atelier Versace gown

I have no words to express what I felt when I saw this. Horrible! The cut of the upper body is nice, but that "window" at the waist looks terrible to me. And I don´t like the pattern at all. My impression when I saw it was as if it were kind of a casual dress. Don´t like it.

No tengo palabras para expresar lo que me dio cuando vi este modelito. Es tremendo! El caso es que la parte de arriba del vestido tiene un corte muy bonito, pero esa abertura en la cintura me parece horrible. Tampoco me gusta nada el estampado. Mi impresión al verlo fue como si estuviera viendo un vestido de tipo informal. No me gusta.

Louis Vuitton gown

Nope. Maybe cutting it and getting rid of the long part of the dress could work, but not like this.

Negativo! Quizás si cortáramos la parte baja del vestido no quedaría tan mal, pero así no me gusta nada 

Erdem gown

Another perfect example of what I would never choose. The color, the flowers, the cut...horrendous!

Otro perfecto ejemplo de lo que yo nunca habría elegido. El color, las flores super puestas, el corte....horrendo!! 

Carolina Herrera gown

Somebody miss her garden too much to leave it at home? That´s the only reason I can think to do something like this. The cut of the gown is very nice but why all the vegetation? I don´t know, maybe for a very specific situation it could work, but not here.

Alguien está echando de menos su jardín aquí? Porque es la única explicación que puedo encontrar a esto. El corte del vestido es bonito, pero por qué han elegido esos floripondios?. No sé, quizás en alguna ocasión muy específica podría funcionar, pero aquí no me gusta nada.

In a case like this, a nice and elegant suit would have worked better for her based on her comportment. Gowns are definitely not for everybody, but everybody can look elegant and nice! It´s just a question of making a good choice.

En un caso como este, habría sido mejor ponerse un traje de pantalón bonito y elegante. Viéndola en TV, me quedó claro que su porte es más para ese tipo de prendas, no para un vestido de este tipo. Los vestidos largos no son para todo el mundo. Sin embargo, todo el mundo puede ir elegante! Es cuestión de hacer una buena elección al vestirse.
